Wallace (Minxian) Wang is a principal investigator at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China National Center for Bioinformation. His lab is interested in understanding the genetic basis for human cardiovascular diseases and reducing the population-level disease burden by developing and applying statistical and artificial intelligence models in genome-wide association studies, genetic risk prediction, and precision medicine. His lab has the ultimate goal of assisting in guiding precise disease prevention, leading to healthier lifestyles, and in the discovery of new therapeutic targets.

Dr. Fei Wang is a Research Assistant Professor in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China National Center for Bioinformation). She completed her Ph.D. in animal genetics from Nanjing Agricultural University. She completed her postdoctoral training in the medical school of Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. Dr. Fei Wang is skilled in resolving biological questions by conducting omics and cell molecular experiments. She is interested in disease risk prediction by integratively analyzing GWAS data with multi-omics data, aiming to research and reveal the underlying genetic mechanism for disease etiology and precise disease prediction.

Xiong Yang is a postdoc in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China National Center for Bioinformation. He completed his Ph.D. degree in computational biology from the CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology (PICB), Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include statistical learning, deep learning, and its applications to disease risk modeling for the help of early-stage disease prevention and treatment.

Rufan Zhang is a postdoc in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China National Center for Bioinformation. She completed her Ph.D. degree from Sun Yat-sen University. Her research interests include genomics and population genetics, aiming to identify new therapeutic targets based on genome-wide association studies.

Rufan Zhang
Postdoc

Dr. Bichen Ren is a postdoc at Fudan University, receiving joint training in the Wang lab at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China National Center for Bioinformation). She completed her Ph.D. in Vascular Surgery at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, and earned her M.D. in Clinical Medicine from Jilin University (formerly Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences). Aspiring to be both a surgeon and a physician scientist, she is committed to bridging the gap between clinical cardiovascular disease treatment and genetics research.

Hongqiang Zhao is a data analysis engineer in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics. He completed his master degree in applied mathematics from the Belarusian State University, his research interests include statistical, reinforcement learning, Bayesian, etc.

Yunga A is a Ph.D. student in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He achieved his master's degree in Bioengineering at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Yunga is interested in genomics and population genetics, including genome De novo assembly, population genome research based on whole-genome resequencing, etc. He comprehensively uses biology, mathematics, and computer knowledge to mine animal genomes with important scientific research and application value.

Qiuli Chen completed her bachelor's degree in bioinformatics from Hunan Agricultural University. Now she is majoring in genomics at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Qiuli's work focuses on population genetics and polygenic risk score, which is devoted to revealing the mechanism of human complex diseases through high throughput omics data and promoting the development of precision medicine. In addition, she is interested in disease risk prediction and machine learning.

Jia Li is a master student at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Science. She joined the Wang Lab in September 2021. She graduated in Bioinformatics from Hunan Agricultural University. She is interested in linking the associations between risk variants and phenotypes by analyzing large-scale genetic data to help precise disease prevention and treatment.

Xingyu Chen will get his bachelor's degree from Southwest University in 2022. And after that, he will pursue his doctoral degree in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China National Center for Bioinformation). He is interested in developing algorithms for polygenetic risk score prediction. Besides, he is trying a new method to trace the metastasis pathway of cancer cells.

Xinyu Zhou is a PhD student in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She complete her master's degree in Agricultural Insects and Pest Control from Nanjing Agricultural University in June 2022. Xinyu is interested in population genomics and population genetics. During her master's degree, she has built a complete set of analysis process starting from sequencing data, to variants calling and filtering, go further to various population genetic analysis including PCA, DAPC, descent assignment test, molecular phylogenetic analysis, haplotype co-ancestor matrix mapping, selection pressure test, and genetic differentiation degree quantification, etc. Now she is actively learning the relevant knowledge of computational biology to prepare for future graduate life.

Jichen Wen is a Ph.D. student in the Wang lab at Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He achieved his bachelor's degree in Bioengineering at Hainan University. Jichen is interested in single-cell genomics and population genetics, especially combining single-cell information with genotype data at the population level to link genetic variation to the cellular processes underpinning key aspects of human biology and disease.

Yuanyuan Ye is a Ph.D. student in Ming Liu's group from Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. She joined WangLab in October 2023 for co-cultivation. She graduated in Clinical Medicine (Internal Medicine) and is now interested in using genomic association research methods to discover new genetic causes of rare diseases, especially monogenic diabetes, to aid in the precision diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Komal Zaib is an international Ph.D. student in the Wang Lab at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, specifically within the China National Center for Bioinformatics. She obtained her Master's degree in Biochemistry from Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKUM) in Pakistan, in 2022 and joined the Wang Lab in September, 2023. Currently, she is focused on learning programming and is interested in understanding how to identify polygenic risk scores (PRS) to assess an individual's genetic disease risk, taking into consideration their ancestral background.

Zhao WeiXiang, a master's student at the Sino-Danish College, will join the Wang Lab in September 2023. He interests in understanding the mutual interactions between genes and traits, as well as their combined contributions to human’s development and disease. Currently, he is progreesively studying programming and mathematics to meet his future research standards and to explore the field he is curious about.

KeWei Zhao graduated with a bachelor's degree from Huazhong Agricultural University in 2022. Following graduation, KeWei pursued a doctoral degree in the Wang lab at the Beijing Institute of Genomics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China National Center for Bioinformation). With interest in the heterogeneity of cells during the progression of diseases, KeWei's current research focuses on single-cell multi-omics and single-cell eQTL analysis.
